Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets and Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Canada Steven Guilbeault signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of environmental protection.
Cooperation priorities are the following:
joint projects on biodiversity protection with a focus on the forest sector as a habitat for species; partnership in biodiversity monitoring; projects in the implementation of the concept of ecosystem services, legislative regulation; continued cooperation on the translation and issuance of CITES specimen identifiers issued by the Canadian government; restoration of damaged ecosystems, in particular as a result of Russian aggression.
Ruslan Strilets: We will prepare joint projects, exchange experience and expert visits, organize seminars. This will help our countries to join forces for common goals. Canada is our reliable partner in many areas, and during the Russian invasion our cooperation has strengthened even more.
