“We do not change the approach to reducing the role of the state in the economy. Therefore, we maintain the course of privatization. At the same time, in some sectors the state will be an active player primarily because of the sensitivity of these sectors to national security issues,” the Prime Minister said at a government meeting on Tuesday.
He named land, water and forests as such sectors.
“In 2023, we will move towards the creation of unified state-owned companies in the field of three strategic resources: land, water and forests. Instead of dispersion, which gives rise to corruption, there will be unification and strict control over the actions of managers,” Shmyhal said. In September 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers launched a reform of the forest industry, within which 158 state forestry enterprises will be merged into a single state specialized enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”.
